While the book offers many, many details about this little known period of American development, and I can't question it's accuracy I wonder about the very strong anti-Black Hawk slant. He may have as viciously anti-American as the author says but I wonder if a writer/researcher of today would come to the same conclusion. But overall if you are interested in American history this is a great story to learn about.Product details

Great read
For anyone in Iowa, Illinois, or Wisconsin it's a great read.
Fascinating and accurate. Much of the book is centered on an area where family lives today.
Would buy it again and I know I will read it again.
Way too detailed for my needs.

Found an ancestor who fought in this war and was trying to learn a little more about it. I found it difficult to stick with.
This is one of the best books I have read on this war. It filled in areas of his autobiography and the trilogy. Easy read.
